AVOS Purchases Delicious from Yahoo

In case you didn’t get the memo, Yahoo has sold Delicious to Chad Hurley and Steve Chen. These are the two founders of YouTube, which was eventually acquired by Google.

I think the purchase of Delicious by Chad Hurley and Steve Chen will be a good thing for the user base because they have the ideas and money to make Delicious into something excellent.

This purchase is being done through the new start-up AVOS. Chad Hurley and Steve Chen recently started this company and I believe we will see AVOS turning into the next big player in the Social Media vertical.

If AVOS can hire some bright minds and turn whatever great ideas they are keeping mum about into reality, then watch out Google and Facebook.

In order for Delicious to be awesome, they are going to have to expand the site and make it much more than a bookmark service though.

I guess we will see over the next quarter what AVOS can enchant its newly bought user base with and honestly I think everyone in social media knows that Hurley and Chen have what it takes to turn Delicious into a viral success.

So let us cross our fingers and hope that Delicious gets the attention and talent that Yahoo failed to give it. If Chad Hurley has some sense, one of the first people he will hire is Feross Aboukhadijeh.
